Le Patin Libre

Last week watched and drew Le Patin Libre skate Vertical Influences at Somerset House. Last saw them at Alexandra Palace during Dance Umbrella 2014,  Wonderful combination of exhilaratingly fast and dangerous with calm, slow meditative. Beautiful swooping patterns carved into the ice. Loved that at the end they came off the ice to talk to us. Have begun an etching inspired by the drawings

Until the Lions. Akram Khan Company

Last night I went to a preview of Akram Khan‘s Until The Lions at the Roundhouse. Beautiful, mesmerising, powerful dance, by the 3 magnificent dancers. The music is fantastic and the lighting by Michael Hulls is evocative and wonderful. I just wish I had arrived in time to read the complex storyline in the programme before it started.

Parkinson’s Dance, Pavilion Dance South West

Last month I was asked if I would like to visit Pavilion Dance South West, Bournemouth to draw a truly inspirational dance class to help raise money to extend the class to other venues across the South West. The class is for people with the progressive neurological condition, Parkinson’s, this condition affects 1 in every 500 people across the UK. Common symptoms are difficulties with balance, co-ordination, turning around, posture and walking. The class is led by a dance teacher and a physiotherapist.

I created an A2 image in graphite, coloured pencil and watercolour. It has been printed as a signed limited edition giclee print on Hahnemuhle German Etching Paper. All proceeds of sales go to Parkinson’s Dance to raise money for this very worthwhile class. If you would like to buy a print please contact eloise@pdsw.org.uk

Richard Alston Dance Company. The Place

20th Anniversary Season

Opening Gambit, choreographed by Richard Alston Dance Company associate choreographer, Martin Lawrence, opened the evening. Ten dancers almost fly, they move with such speed, clarity and energy with rapid direction changes.

Five dances follow, a highlight for me was watching brilliant Jonathan Goddard with Liam Riddick, dancing a duet choreographed by Richard AlstonMazur, set to Chopin. “A dance for two friends sharing what they love and what they feel they have lost”.
