Young Men takes its inspiration from the First World War, this is an excerpt the finished dance will be premiered in 2015.

Fallen, Choreographed by Russell Maliphant with lighting by Michael Hulls, was particularly strong and beautiful to watch, with the dancers creating different levels by lifting each other and falling.

New Movement Collective. Casting Traces. The Paper Maze
at the Louise Blouin Foundation, London.
Casting Traces is an uplifting, dynamic multi-media performance. Six highly skilled dancers, move amongst a labyrinth of reams of hanging paper, the audience free to follow independently or together as they wish. Violinist, Aisha Orazbayeva, opened the show with a beautiful melancholic solo, her shadow behind paper, which was to be painted open for us to move through the silhouettes of the dancers.
I haven’t read Paul Auster’s novel The New York Trilogy which inspired the performance but am now encouraged to.
New Movement Collective will be in Brighton performing Casting Traces. The Paper Maze, 28-30 August at Circus Street Market. Then to Winchester at The Guildhall 23-25 October. Don’t miss this extraordinary engaging work
Greenwich World Cultural Festival 2014

Wonderful day yesterday at the Greenwich World Cultural Festival in the gardens of the beautiful English Heritage site, Eltham Palace, leading family Art Workshops with son Max and daughter Gaby. A Greenwich Dance initiative where I am the Resident (Visual) Artist.
Many pop-up performances during the afternoon from Mattress Circus, Moxie Brawl, Dingolay Caribbean Dance, Folded Feather, Emergency Exit Arts; family creative dance workshops, social dancing with Thomas Michael Voss; A Curious Cakewalk; Music from Gypsy Dread Band and Rhythm of the City. Chinese Ribbon Dance Workshops and many more wonderful activities to watch and take part in.

Daughter Gaby taught visitors of all ages how to make an origami Crane, (she insisted was a swan) as part of The International Peace Crane Project 2014
When the origami was complete, we asked the Crane maker to write a message of Peace on their bird. Some we hung in the trees but most went home with their makers

Join Max, Gaby and myself in the Dry Moat to make a clay model to take home, make an origami Crane becoming a part of the International Peace Crane Project and lets Draw Together, all art workshops are for all ages.

Arthur Pita’s The World’s Greatest Show
The Never-Ending Dance Marathon of 1935
During the American depression in the 1930’s Dance Marathon’s were organised as entertainment, where couples danced almost non-stop for hundreds of hours competing for prize money, the longest recorded Marathon lasted 3,780 hours. The World’s Greatest Show is a dance-theatre work exploring this phenomenon, choreographed by Arthur Pita with music by Frank Moon and a live jazz band.
In June 2013 I was invited by Arthur Pita to draw the show in R & D at Greenwich Dance, with the working title Nobody’s Baby, 10 performers danced for 100 hours keeping to the original marathon rules. Sometimes I arrived to draw at 10.00 am, sometimes at 11.00 pm, it was an exceptional week of physical and mental strength combined with extraordinary good will from the performers.
These drawings are from the performance on Friday. I drew many drawings during R&D but they now feel irrelevant. I watched with daughter Gaby who said at the close of the show: “That was Brilliant” I couldn’t agree more

Greenwich Dance. Of Land And Tongue
19 June at Greenwich Dance, Theo Clinkard performed the mesmerising solo Chalk to a live score by James Keane. Through the movement and soundscape I was transported to the coast, the waves pulling on the shingle, the eroding cliffs. So evocative, by the close of the dance my heart feels heavy and I know I am missing the sea much more than I had realised.
Theo Clinkard is a Resident (Dance) Artist at Greenwich Dance, as am I – Resident (Visual) Artist . Theo choreographed Of Land and Tongue (below) for 5 dancers, using language as well as strong physical movement.
