Unbound. Exhibition at Thames-Side Studios

Thursday, April 6th, 2017

April 7

Unbound: Sally McKay and Michele Fuirer

Thames-Side Studios Lounge, Unit 0

Exhibition dates: 8 April – 8 May 2017

Unbound suggests not bound by the singularity of the print medium, as well as the freedom or lack of restraint in finding the image. Printmaking for each artist is part of a wider practice. Both artists are driven by other media which come into the printmaking and flow through it. In the case of McKay drawing from live performance and in the case of Fuirer framing the image through her association with film and photography.

Opening Hours: Sunday 9 April, 14.00 – 17.00, Saturday 15 April 12 – 17.00, Sunday 23 April 14.00 – 17.00, Saturday 29 April 12 -17.00, and by appointment: sallymckayprint@gmail.com 07803609977 or mail@michelefuirer.com

Anne De Terese Keersmaeker Tate Modern

Monday, July 11th, 2016

July 11 2016

Anne De Terese Keersmaeker Tate Modern

Over the weekend the renowned Belgian choreographer Anne De Terese Keersmaeker and her company Rosas were performing Work/Travail/Arbeid in the Turbine Hall Tate Modern. The music, composed by Gérard Grisey was played live by musicians with the collective name Ictus: a grand piano, flute, clarinet, violin, viola and cello. I drew Anne De Terese Keersmaeker in 2012 when she performed at the opening of the Tanks at Tate Modern. It was fantastic to have the opportunity again to watch and draw Keersmaeker’s choreography and see the excellent Rosas dancers performing.

A small selection of the many drawings I made, I will work from the drawings to create monotypes and etchings, maybe even a painting:
