Royal Academy. Summer Exhibition Illustrated 2015

Last night at the Private View of the Summer Exhibition, my daughter picked out works that if she had the money she would buy for herself and a few she would buy for me, as we left I suggested an affordable option, a look in the shop to see if there were cards of her favourites, I flicked through the ‘Summer Exhibition Illustrated 2015‘, “First published in the 1870’s the Summer Exhibition Illustrated presents the highlights of each year’s selection and is a fascinating barometer of changing tastes” ‘I’ll buy this for you if they’re in here’, to my delight I saw my etching Rapidly Scrawled Life is in the book above Cornelia Parker’s Stolen Thunder III.

Gwyn Emberton Dance. My People

Gwyn Emberton Dance. My People

I have been drawing Gwyn Emberton Dance during rehearsals for My People, at Greenwich Dance. This dark turbulent dance takes it’s name and inspiration from Caradoc Evans‘ collection of controversial short stories written in 1915. The six dancers, Gwyn Emberton, Federica Esposito, Albert Garcia, Anais Michelin, Ryan O’Neill and Rachele Rapisardi transport the audience through strong flowing movement to the turbulent village life of Manteg.

11th June 2012

On Monday I went to the launch of Graham Rawle’s new book The Card, published by Atlantic Books.

I haven’t begun to read it yet but know it will be as intriguing and beautiful as his first novel also published by Atlantic Books: Woman’s World.

He is a star, a very creative, good natured shining star. How do I know? I worked as his assistant for 18 months – he gave me my first job when I left Art School long ago (Goldsmiths). I thought that then and think the same now.
